Karl Urban

I found this Riddick/Vaako story, Only the Strong, that I've really been enjoying. Reminded me how much I like Karl. I just added Chronicles of Riddick, Bourne Supremacy, The Price of Milk, Ghost Ship, and {hangs head in shame} Doom to my netflix queue.

I don't watch movies with The Rock in them. I'm not a fan and they're usually so *cheesy*. So I told myself I would never watch Doom b/c omg, the cheese! in the promos! But...it's Karl! So I'm watching Doom this weekend. The things I won't do for a pretty man! Oh, the shame, the shame, the black shame.

Hey, that reminds me of Eli. Does anyone know the status of slashdom.com?
rositamia: (Default)
Many, many fandoms, almost all are slash, a very few gen, maybe a het or two(gasp!), some WIP, some violent, some shmoopy, some RPF, none perfect, but all enjoyed by me. All URLs verified valid. More to come...eventually.

Fic Recs )

This is not a rec. Yet. This is an FYI. For the last few years, I've been reading a fantastic original story, Keeper and its sequels: Madness, Deja Vu, and Tools of Extinction. It has good dialogue, good characterizations, good plot, and good world building.
I just managed to find it again and saw there are 2 more stories in the series. I can't wait to read them. The first ones were very good, so I don't feel it too soon to pass along the info.

You know that Sam&Dean fic I've been reading? Ya'll have to check it out.

It's been a while since I've read such a phenomenal story. It has me on the edge of my seat anxiously waiting to see what happens next. It's up to Part 23 now. It's a WIP, but the authors post every day.

SPN fandom seems to have more of the short-to-midlength story so it's great to find a novel-length story. And such a good one too.

Go-Cart Charlie by Red Soprano

Summary: A frightening dream and an early morning visitor prompt a fateful meeting between Allison Dubois and the Eppes family.

I just recently started watching both shows and I think she did a phenomenal job with the voices of each character. I liked all of the dialogue, but I especially loved the dialogue between Joe and Allison. That rang very true. I had tears in my eyes because of the ending. I really loved that interaction between Allison and Don.

Recs

I tried my hand at reccing John Sheppard/Rodney McKay stories at [livejournal.com profile] stargateficrec for October and November. I had over 150 stories in my folder to rec and picked up more along the way. Since I really couldn't overwhelm them that way, I only recced 61 (one for each day in Oct/Nov) Some of the following stories have character death, torture, angst, noncon, kidfic, etc. etc. Some are funny, happy, sad. They made me laugh, cry, scared, hot, etc. etc. They run the spectrum.

In no order, other than alphabetical...here are the stories )

Puppy Love

I know I've really been hitting the trickyfish recs lately, but this is Lance's month. I'm *supposed* to concentrate on Lance and trickyfish just does it for me.

I also want to thank [livejournal.com profile] lcsbanana for the cool new trickyfish icon. Y'all will be seeing it often. =)

I was wrong! I'm sooo glad I was wrong. I thought Melvira had already taken down her site. She hasn't! Go here to read some wonderful fic! This is where my *all-time* favorite JoLa is, Map of the World. This is such a heartbreakingly *beautiful* story. She has slash of all NSYNC flavors with a little BSB thrown in for variety. Go now! Before it's gone!

I'm supposed to be working on a document I have to turn in at the end of the day, but I haven't been because I got sidetracked by this wonderful JuC story of Beth's I found. It's lovely. I have the album that she used as inspiration and I think it totally fits. Now I can't wait to go home and reread it while listening to it.

For some reason, the Lambs just don't do it for me. They really don't. Then how come the Sandys always manage to get me to read *all* their stories and they're 95% Lambs? Because the stories are just *that* good. I just finished reading Out and About and totally loved it. I was even late to a meeting because I had to know how it ended. And yes, it is a Lambs story. But it's a really, really, really good Lambs story.

I know that y'all read the first part of Chasez Lake Christmas 2001 and have been as anxious as I've been for the next part, New Year. Foxmonkey just posted it and I'm off to read it.

I just read it. Totally loved it. Of course, it wasn't long enough. But it wouldn't be long enough if it was 10 times as long. I really love the way Justin and JC interact in this story. And it has trickyfish. Both of my OTPs in one story? What's not to love? Y'all need to read it.

Trios

I'm looking for stories involving threesomes. I've really enjoyed Lucy's Letterboys series and now I want more. The whole dynamic fascinates me. I like to see how they work out the logistics. And I don't mean just the physical ones either. ;)

I would particularly love to read JuLaC, Chola, or JuFuC. =) In other words, Justin/Lance/JC, Chris/Joey/Lance, or Justin/Chris/JC. I would also like to read AJ/Howie/Nick. Aw, heck, I will read *any* combinations.

Does anyone know where I can find some? Any would help would be appreciated. Thanks.

As y'all know, I went to go see the puppies live and I fell in love with them completely. I already loved them before, but now... There are no words. They've just become sooo real to me.

I think that's why this story hit me so hard. I'd read the first parts to it before and I finally got to read it all the way through. I cried *all* the way through till the end. Literally read it with tears running down my face into my pillow. Was left with a very damp pillow.

It's the All Over You Series by Rhys. It's heartbreakingly sad. I *loved* it! I love stories that make me react either with tears or laughter.

I'm not going to give any warnings, because personally I *hate* warnings. Never read them myself. I will say that it involves hurt/comfort, so if it's not your thing, then don't read. But you'll miss a wonderful story.

Chris turns to Joey after a traumatic event.

I've been around fandom for almost 4 years now. I've flitted from fandom to fandom, getting really caught up in one or two till something else caught my eye and moving on. I've gone through many, many, many fandoms that way. I've read mostly slash with *some* gen thrown in and even more rarely het.

There are lots and lots of stories that I've loved over the years, but there are a few that made such an impact that I still think of them, even if I no longer read in that fandom. It might be because the story was that good or that disturbing or that sweet.

These are all slash with different pairings. I'm not going to say why I liked each individual story because I'd be here all day. Suffice it to say, some of these made me cry, some made me laugh, all have made me remember them.

The following are just a few:

The Theban Band is a site with such beautiful pictures they leave me breathless. They are erotic works of art involving many different fandoms like X-Files, Once a Thief, Due South, The Sentinel, Highlander, Angel, Andromeda, Smallville, and The Lord of the Rings. The Fantasy, Wings, and Hybrids ones are spectacularly imaginative.

There is also an emphasis on the Nicholas Lea characters, Alex Krycek and Vic Ramsey. Nick is one of my favorite actors of all time, so this makes me very happy.

Most images are m/m slash with some f/f and some gen, no het though. All images are manipulated.

Every time they touched each other it was like being plunged into a world alive with light and color. There would never be enough of what they shared together, not ever.

Isn't that beautiful? It's from Polarity, a new JuC fic by Kaelie.

What we have here, is failure to communicate.

Beautifully painful and sweet

There are words and phrases that just stick in my mind long after I read a story, like this one.

that habit was just another word for love, experienced over and over again until it had sunk in deeper than muscle memory, right through to the bone. He thought that instinct was simply knowledge, so complete, so engrained and so old that he couldn't remember ever having to learn it. And luck? Well, luck was a gift

It's from Jae's story Celebrity. I really love the story. It's Justin/Joey and there's just not enough of that. And I love how Joey convinced Justin. This was so true, it just stuck in my head.
